Consumers will be able to conduct transactions throughout the SEPA area from a single account, under the same conditions, as easily and as safely as in the domestic context today.
Making payments will be simplified for all consumers travelling within the SEPA area as their payment cards will be more easily accepted by merchants.
Consumers will also benefit from the modernisation of payment instruments and the new SEPA-induced value-added services.
Moreover, consumers will be able to manage all their transactions from a single account irrespective of their location in the SEPA area. It will be easier for them to compare prices offered by payment service providers and thus reap the benefits of the increased competition between European service providers.
